| SECURITY OFFICER TRAINING We realize that security positions, duties, assignments and training requirements vary with the degree and scope of the particular client, area and job including the degree of risks and liabilities. A security officer who is assigned to a control desk at a distribution center who monitors cameras and access control probably will not encounter the same type of environment, potential safety risks or need the same type of intense training as an officer who is assigned to a business patrol or public housing complex where the public contact and danger levels are at an increased level. Private security positions are not all the same nor are they created equal and therefore the officer must be trained according to their specific needs. Both meet the core requirements of most state standards of training for security officer license and continuing education certifications. |
| LOSS PREVENTION AGENTS Retail security is the type of position that requires a lot of knowledge, a level head and a keen eye. It's a job that is increasingly becoming one of the most dangerous types of security work that a person can do. When a loss prevention agent goes to make the stop on a suspected shoplifter, he or she is coming face to face with a confirmed criminal who in most cases is going to face arrest and they know it and many don't want to face the consequences for their offense. In more than a third of the shoplifting apprehensions made each year, the shoplifter puts up some form of resistance either verbal or physical. Being a loss prevention agent is exciting and rewarding and is probably the closet that a private security officer comes to making an arrest. In fact, many states view it as a citizens arrest and when the police respond they are merely the transporting officer.
