| OFFICER DOWN FEBRUARY 2008 JOHN RUIZ 39 MIAMI FLA. Loss Prevention Agent Ruiz was working for CVS Pharmacy when he attempted to apprehend a shoplifter and was shot and killed. The suspect later committed suicide. MARCH VERNON L TOWNSEND 66 AUBURN WA. March 16 2008 Officer Townsend was trapped between his vehicle and a hole in the road that had collapsed in a construction site. Officer Townsend was trapped for unknown amount of time and was found the next day. UNKNOWN SECURITY OFFICER MEMPHIS TN. A security officer tried to intervene in a domestic fight and came to the aid of the female and was shot and killed. We are still seeking his name and will update soon. APRIL ALLEN L. HAYES 70 LOCUST FORK ALA. Officer Hayes was employed by DSI Security and was struck by a truck at the loading dock of a Tyson Chicken plant located in Blountsville Alabama. HERNAN CARDONA 60 LOS ANGELES CA. APRIL 18 2008 While on patrol he engaged in a gun battle with several suspects and was shot in the back .Police think three gang members may have targeted him. MAY DORMAN "RAY" COOPER 26, TRUMANN ARK. MAY 12 2008 Officer Cooper was working at a factory when an employee entered his office and shot him twice. JAMES E MUDDIMAN SR. 63, SOUTH BEND IND. MAY 17 2008 While on duty at an area nightclub, Muddiman was assaulted by an unruly patron and died of his injuries Unknown Security Officer Madison Al. May 23 2008 Security officer was killed during a warehouse fire. his name has not been released yet. JUNE KEVIN CASTLEMAN 36, FORT WORTH TX. JUNE 2, 2008 Was involved in car accident and succumbed to his injuries. DAVID FULKROD 59, AUGUSTA GEORGIA JUNE 4 2008 While on duty at CMC Recycling he was shot in the head during a robbery. GERMANE HARRIS 33, SAN FRANCISCO CA. JUNE 6 2008 As he left his job as a security officer at a nightclub he was gunned down by a drive-by shooter. JULY ROBIN LACY 50, INDIANAPOLIS IN. JULY 20 2008 Officer Lacy was on duty and standing in front of the Cosmo Knights lounge when he was struck by at least one hit and run driver and vehicle debris when three cars crashed in front of the business. BILLY THOMAS, 50 LAUREL COUNTY KY July 29 2008 Billy Thomas, 50, a security guard for Health Directors, was working at ECO Tech of Kentucky in East Bernstadt. London Police say Thomas was making his rounds when he discovered a security gate open to the lot. Police say Thomas then apparently closed the gate, which weighs approximately 600 pounds, past it's stopping point. He turned his back when the gate fell, and it struck him in the back of the head, killing him instantly. Thomas worked for Health Directors for 12 years. AUGUST MONTE RUBY , SPRINGFIELD MO. AUGUST 6 2008 Ruby was kicked and assaulted by a prisoner that police had brought into the CoxHealth facility where he was on duty. He died several days later from the trauma injuries that he sustained. Ruby was also held a peace officer commission. ANDREW REISTER , 40, HAMPTON BAYS NY AUGUST 9 2008 Died from injuries of an assault while working at a local nightclub. He was also a full time correction officer. |
